Commerce Lab is a new concept in the field of commerce education in the present day scenario. Since economic reforms are being introduced from time to time country-wide, commerce education is gaining importance day by day. The financial reforms opened up opportunities for professionals in the field of commerce and related areas. Students of commerce are necessitated to learn practical aspects in their subjects to become successful entrepreneurs in the present economic scenario. Consequently an establishment of commerce lab has become inevitable in every college. The Department of Commerce of our college also has established a well equipped commerce lab in a spacious room with all facilities. This lab was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Mahathama Gandhi University Prof V Gangadhar on 22nd of August 2008.
The Commerce lab of our college has a rich collection of various important documents used in the field of commerce, industry and trade. They include banking documents like account opening forms, specimen cheques, passbooks, pay-in slips, demand draft forms, ATM cards, debit cards, dredit cards, cheque return memo, locker agreement, etc. Also included are documents of companies like memorandum of association, articles of association, prospectus, share application form, share certificate, debenture certificate, call money notice, proxy form, DEMAT requisition form, annual reports, and taxation forms like ITR forms, form 16, Form 49, VAT forms, Insurance forms like proposal form, Life insurance policy etc, and foreign Trade forms like Latter of credit, Consular invoice etc are also made available to the students.
The commerce lab is equipped with computers with internet facility through which students can download topics related to their subjects. The Lab also has portraits of Indian business leaders, specimen currency notes of different countries, and various books and magazines related to business for the use of students.
Departmental Library
The Department of Commerce is maintaining a Departmental Library. At present there are over 300 books. Students are allowed to borrow books from the Departmental Library too besides making use of the reference facility.
