Welcome to Nagarjuna Government College.
Nagarjuna Government College (Autonomous) is the oldest and premier institution of higher learning in the Telangana Region. Established in 1956, since then it has been growing from strength to strength as the years rolled on serving the educational needs of this area and today it has as many as 3700 students on the rolls. The institution was accorded recognition under 2(f) and 12 (B) in 1972 of UGC act of 1956.. The college was accredited by the NAAC with B++ grade in 2004. The college that celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2006 is a forerunner in the realm of higher education in this part of the state. It was conferred on with the status of autonomy for a period of six years from 2007-08 to 2012-13. The college has got academic freedom to frame its own rules of admission within the reservation policy of Government, to prescribe its own courses of study, to restructure and to redesign the courses suitable to the local needs, and to evolve own methods of assessment of students performance, examinations and publication of results. Being a reputed college in the District, the college acts as a liaison between the Government and other degree colleges in the district. Through Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC), on campus Job Training Programme is given to the students in soft skills, Technical Skills and industry grade skills. Job oriented Certificate Courses are also offered to the students under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Convergence Scheme. The Alumni of the Institution spread across the globe occupying respectable positions in various professions. This year the institution geared up to go for NAAC re-assessment.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The college has a vast area of 23.6 acres protected by a well built compound wall. The college has 95,000 square feet built up area providing space for 43 class rooms, 26 well equipped laboratories, a JKC Lab, an English Language Lab, a Commerce Lab, a Seminar Hall, an Alumni Hall, a Guest House, a UGC Network Resource Centre, a District Resource Centre, a Placement Cell, a Career Guidance Cell, a Computerized Autonomous Examination Branch, MANA TV for E-Lessons, a Fully Automated Digitalized Library and a Reading Room with Open Access System and free Internet Facility, a Multi-Gymnasium, a mini Outdoor Stadium and a large Play Field.
